Roma boss Jose Mourinho said he will miss Ainsley Maitland-Niles when the midfielder returns to Arsenal following the end of his loan spell.

The versatile midfielder, who can also play as a full-back, did not enjoy the best of times with the Italian capital club.

Maitland-Niles was on the periphery of a starting spot during the second half of this season.

The 24-year-old said goodbye to Roma through his Instagram account, to which Mourinho responded:"We will miss you/one of us".

Maitland-Niles had written the following on Instagram: "Great way to end the season thank you to the Roma fans, players and staff for embracing me and believing in me as one of their own for the short period of time spend at the club what an experience and to be a part of history with the club."

The England star is likely to leave Arsenal permanently this summer.
