Roma chief Souloukou: Ending Growth Decree will hurt Italian football and Italy

Roma chief exec Lina Souloukou says abolishing Italian football's 'Growth Decree' will hurt clubs.

The tax breaks enjoyed by Serie A clubs is set to be scrapped.

Soulouko told Il Sole 24 Ore: "Abolishing the growth decree would be an own goal for football.

"It would mean calling into question the basis of the international competitiveness of our football and would severely penalise the economic growth of the entire movement.

"Moreover, there would be damage for the State from the changes to the benefits for professional athletes, which lead to the entry into Italy of greater taxable incomes and, therefore, higher taxes. By adding these positive effects, it can be stated that the tax benefits do not therefore lead to a reduction in tax revenue, but rather an increase."
