River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio admits he's ready to enter talks with Real Madrid over the sale of Exequiel Palacios.

The Copa Libertadores winners hope to keep hold of Palacios for a little longer, although D'Onofrio has admitted that Real Madrid might advance negotiations soon.

"The only talk with Real Madrid was between [Emilio] Butragueno and [Enzo] Francescoli," the president said on Radio MARCA.

"They spoke about the player, but we've still to speak further down the line.

"I suppose this will happen now if they are truly interested in him.

"If they want him then the best thing Real Madrid and Palacios could do would be to wait a little longer."
