REVEALED: One reason why Sir Alex rejected Spurs before taking Man Utd job

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could have gone to Tottenham.

The most successful coach in the club's history, who retired in 2013, could have made history at an entirely different club.

Ferguson is said to have met then Spurs chairman Irving Scholar in 1984, two years before he took over at United.

A book about Spurs, titled 'Still Dreaming', states that his wife Cathy told him not to make the move.

The book states: "The directors, to a man, were enthusiastic endorsers of the choice (Ferguson). All aspects of the contract agreed.

"Unfortunately, Mrs Ferguson was not keen on a move to London and that was that."
