Real Madrid's Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro has denied he was responsible for Roma's Francesco Totti quitting international football.

"Enough with this infinite controversy," he growled. "I was and still am the Azzurri captain and I want him on my team, but I understand that it's not easy for him to play so many games, especially after such injury problems."
