Real Madrid midfielder Valverde: I should be the matchwinner!

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde says they won't get carried away after heir 3-2 Champions League win at Napoli.

Jude Bellingham struck again as Real's winner came via an own goal from Napoli keeper Alex Meret after Valverde's shot thumped off the crossbar and into the net via his back.

Valverde said, "It was a great match and the weather was spectacular. It's the first time I've played here. But what's most important is that we won. We dominated the first half, but we were up against it in the first few minutes. Then they scored a penalty and we found ourselves behind, but we managed to push on and get the win.

“We have to take a self-critical look at ourselves. We played a good game, but they got into the game because of one of their goals. They pressed and that's normal, but we have a good team capable of playing better in those minutes.

“I was a bit sad because I looked at the scoreboard and it didn't say Valverde. One of the opposition players told me that the goal wasn't mine, but the important thing is that we got the three points."
