Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has withdrawn from the Belgian national team training camp and returned to Spain as a precaution due to a minor adductor strain.

The Belgian football federation announced the withdrawal on Sunday, although the extent of the injury is not yet known.

This comes after Courtois played all 90 minutes in his national team's 3-0 win against Sweden.

It is believed that the issue is minor and that he is leaving early as a precautionary measure. Further tests will be carried out upon his arrival in the Spanish capital on Monday.

The news does raise alarm bells at a decisive moment in Los Blancos' season, with the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Barcelona to come and with the first leg of the Champions League tie against Chelsea just around the corner as well.
