Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois admits he may never play for Belgium again

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits he may've played his last game for Belgium.

As he recovers from ACL surgery, Courtois has stated he won't be available for Euros selection even if he returns before the end of the season. Courtois also admits there remains tension with Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco after being overlooked for the captaincy last year.

He told VRT1: “Everyone has an opinion on this topic and that is normal. But I think a lot of people didn't understand my point of view. It wasn't so much about the captaincy. During this time there was little to no discussion with me.

"I felt like they weren't counting on me. I will speak soon. Maybe I made a decision too quickly. But I am a human being with feelings, I am not a robot."

About his decision not to play at the Euros, he said, “Even if he played a game with Madrid at the end of the season, that would not mean that I would be 100%.

“We will see what the future holds for us. I still want to play for Belgium, but I'm not getting any younger. On the contrary..."
