Real Madrid defender Nacho hailed the club's spirit after their stunning extra-time Champions League defeat of Chelsea.

Real are into the semi-finals, despite losing Tuesday night's second-leg 2-3.

Nacho said, "Incredible – one more of these nights here at the Bernabéu. The tie became very difficult for us. It was similar to the Paris game. It gives you goosebumps each time you experience a night like this at the Bernabéu.

"The important thing is we are in the next round. It's true, we have a lot to improve, especially from the start of the game, but that's Real Madrid – we are taught from a young age that you never give up. Against Paris many people were waiting to write us off.

"Today, again, with the game going against us, there were surely lots of people doubting us. But the DNA of this club is to keep going to the end."
