Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is confident facing RB Leipzig.

Real meet RBL in the first-leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie this week.

Ancelotti said: "We go into the game on a good run and we're enjoying good momentum. The team is excited and well up for it. The Champions League is back, and it's a competition we really like and we're playing against a strong, quality team who play high intensity football. We have to put on a complete performance, especially defensively, and offensively, where we have the quality.

“I don't know if it's the best (season of career). In terms of runs, perhaps. Never during all this time have my teams only lost two games. The team is solid, professional, motivated and the atmosphere is good. Everyone is contributing and not complaining. We'll see what happens. We've reached this point in the season in good shape with all the difficulties we've had. We've managed to overcome them thanks to the character of the players.

“The motivation comes from the fact that I like what I do and where I do it. I like the squad and the players I have. There's the motivation. For Madrid fans, the Champions League is the most important competition and the one where Real Madrid has been most successful. We're try to do the same this season. We're going to compete and battle. I don't know if we're going to win because nobody can know. Tomorrow will be a tough and difficult match against a strong team."
