Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale didn't return to Madrid on the team bus after defeat at Rayo Vallecano.

Before the game, Bale had asked the club for permission to go directly from the Vallecas stadium to the Barajas airport, where a private plane was waiting for him.

He waited with the squad for his private car as teammates boarded the bus.

Bale was the only player in the squad to make his own way home.

Adrian Embarba scored the only goal for Rayo from a video assistant referee-awarded penalty following a Jesus Vallejo foul on Javi Guerra.
