Real Betis striker Ayoze Perez admits they were poor in Europe this season.

Betis were bounced out of both the Europa and Europa Conference League within weeks.

Perez said: "At the moment of truth the team has not been up to par, it has not lived up to the task.

"You can look more individually, more collectively, but above all it is competing and the team has a hard time staying at that competitive level all the time.

"We paid for that above anything else. In this competition you must have the competitive spirit throughout the tie. We fell just short of it. A shame.

"It is something that we must demand of ourselves. We have a team to fight for beautiful things, we are capable of doing it. That competitive spirit must be non-negotiable and at times it has been a little lacking, and demand of ourselves as well."
