Real Betis defender Marc Bartra upbeat after Achilles surgery

Real Betis defender Marc Bartra has had successful Achilles surgery.

Bartra's operation was carried out at Barcelona Hospital. The tendon injury came as a result of Haglund's syndrome that he had been suffering from for weeks. After several tests and studies by specialists, Betis' medical team and the player concluded that surgery was the best way to put an end to the issue that was hindering his performance.

After his time in the operating room and postoperative period, with a period of immobilisation, Bartra will begin his recovery process with the intention of being back in training as soon as possible. In principle, it is expected that he will be away from the playing fields for several months, at least until next January.

"The operation has gone very well. I have decided to enjoy the process as much as I can, from day to day, and from every moment to come back better in every way. There is one less day left. Thank you to all of you who are there, always strong," Bartra posted to social media.
