Championship club Reading's proposed move for striker Asamoah Gyan has fallen through, according to Sky Sports.

The Royals were in talks with Chinese club Shanghai SIPG over a loan move for the Ghana skipper, but it appears that both clubs have now decided to pull the plug on the deal.

The 30-year-old, who has also attracted interest from his former club Sunderland and Turkish side Besiktas, is set to leave Shanghai following the arrival of Brazilian star Hulk.
