RB Leipzig have joked that star striker Timo Werner is on his way to Tottenham in the summer.

The German striker was linked with a move to Liverpool in the press today.

Leipzig seized on the story and made a joke about it through their official Twitter account.

The club issued a reply regarding the situation, which reads: "We heard he is heading to Tottenham though..."

Leipzig will be hoping they can hold onto Werner for another season, given his importance to the team.

The 23-year-old has 25 goals in 30 appearances for the club this season.
