RB Leipzig chief Mintzlaff on Liverpool target Werner: Has Klopp called?

RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff insists they've not fielded any approaches for Timo Werner.

The German international has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and has made no secret of his admiration of the Premier League leaders, calling them “the best club in the world".

Bayern could be in the market for a long-term replacement for star forward Robert Lewandowski and have often poached the best talent from their Bundesliga rivals.

Mintzlaff told General-Anzeiger: “Neither Jurgen Klopp nor [Bayern chairman] Karl-Heinz Rummenigge contacted me.

"We are happy that we were able to extend the contract with him until 2023. He played a really strong first half of the season.

“We also believe that we are still a very good stage for Timo Werner on which to develop as a Germany international."
