Ranieri expects Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea target Mahrez to stay at Leicester

Claudio Ranieri is confident Riyad Mahrez will be staying put a Leicester City this summer.

The Algerian winger won the PFA Player of the Year award as the Foxes took out the Premier League title last season which has naturally attracted plenty of attention from some big clubs in England and Europe.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been heavily linked with Mahrez, while Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been mentioned over the past few months, but it appears as though he is going nowhere according to comments from manager Ranieri.

Recent reports have suggested that Manchester City are preparing a £34million offer for the 25-year-old, however, Ranieri is calm on the situation.

Speaking after Leicester's 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Oxford United, the Italian said: "I think everybody here is happy.

"It's finished, the market has finished."

Asked further if he had spoken to Mahrez about remaining at Leicester, Ranieri said : "Yes, he wants to stay."

The Foxes have already lost star midfielder N'Golo Kante to Chelsea but it seems as though he will be the only key player to depart with Mahrez staying and striker Jamie Vardy snubbing an offer from Arsenal earlier in the summer.
