Race for the Scudetto: Lautaro an Inter Milan record breaker; Lukaku already Roma No1; Gudmundsson stars with Genoa

Lots of goals and lots of great individual performances over the latest weekend of Serie A. Ups and downs for the Romans, with Lazio losing to Milan and Roma winning 2-0 against Frosinone. An important victory for Inter, with Lautaro Martinez playing a big role in the match. Let's see what happened in Serie A:

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - LAUTARO MARTINEZ

No other player in the history of Serie A had managed to score four goals by coming off the bench; Lautaro Martinez, Inter's captain and top scorer of the league, did it. It was he who made the difference against Salernitana. The score was 0-0 and it appeared set to stay that way, with Paulo Sousa's team managing to neutralise Marcus Thuram and Alexis Sanchez, but it was Inter's number 10 who split the game in two: he was subbed in a few minutes after the start of the second half and scored FOUR goals. No mistake, he scored four goals in less than one half of play.

A real hurricane hit Salernitana, absolutely unable to restrain the Argentine bomber, who scored in every possible way. It is clear, Inter need their captain, they need him to play from the start, even against small teams. Because for experience and quality he is simply irreplaceable. Last week his agent said beautiful words about Inter, revealing how Lautaro does not even want to hear about other teams and offers, because he thinks only about his Nerazzurri. In the era of Arab soccer, hearing such words of love is always good for the hearts of all footballer lovers.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES OF THE WEEK - GUDMUNDSSON AND LUKAKU

A few days ago Albert Gudmundsson had driven Roma's defence crazy and over the last weekend he confirmed that he is a talent on the rise.

In the match against Udinese, Albert scored two goals, in fact he would have scored three but one was disallowed for offside, but both were impressive. There is already Roma and Napoli on him, both interested in his purchase as early as January, but for now Genoa is enjoying the attacker and his skills and goals.

In the end, an own goal by Alan Matturro condemned Alberto Gilardino's Rossoblu to a draw against Udinese; the game ended 2-2, but Gudmundsson was certainly among the best players of the match.

As was Romelu Lukaku, Roma's centre forward, for whom he has quickly become a leader and a certainty. With the one scored at Frosinone we are already at three goals in the league (plus one scored in Europe at Sheriff), all important and decisive, despite the fact that his teammates are not delivering many playable balls or goal chances.

But Romelu is always the protagonist, he always manages to find the way to goal, even when he has only one chance. Right now he is undoubtedly the Giallorossi's key man, confirming why Jose Mourinho and Roma fans have been waiting so long to see him in action. In the next games the Giallorossi will play against Servette and Cagliari. The Special One will probably rest him in Europe to give him space again in Serie A, where Roma absolutely need to win as many games as possible.

TEAM OF THE WEEK - AC MILAN

Important results keep coming for Stefano Pioli's AC Milan. The Rossoneri on Saturday faced Maurizio Sarri's Lazio, always a complicated obstacle given the high technical level at the disposal of the Biancocelesti coach.

Milan responded with a great victory, a peremptory 2-0 that left no room for doubt, first Christian Pulisic's goal and then that of Noah Okafor, who is taking his place as Olivier Giroud's replacement.

The man of the match was Rafael Leao, who with his accelerations and technical quality posed a danger and threat to every opponent: there was nothing the Biancocelesti could do to stop him. He failed to score, but he was able to give two assists to his teammates, taking the team by the hand and leading them to victory and consequently to first place in the standings.

Of course, first in the standings alongside Inter, but beating a top team always gives an extra boost of energy. Pioli had to play without Ismael Bennacer for so long and now Rade Krunic, so he was almost forced to give space to Yacine Adli, who, however, is playing greatly with high-level performances. And when the substitutes play almost at the level of the starters, it means that the coach is working well.
