West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis paid tribute to Darren Fletcher on a winning return to Manchester United.
The Scotland midfielder marshalled the defensive effort as well as winning the freekick that led to Jonas Olsson's deflected winner.
"He's been the biggest influence in the club since he walked through the door," said Pulis. "On and off the pitch he is wonderful.
"He's a leader and he's got great standards, obviously brought up by Sir Alex Ferguson. He's got wonderful habits and hopefully we can keep him going for a few years yet. He does everything right. He leads his life properly and the younger players have really warmed to him."
