PSG fought hard to trump Barcelona to the signing of Frenkie de Jong, it has been revealed.

Ahead of their Champions League showdown in Paris, it's been revealed PSG fought Manchester City and Barca to sign the then Ajax midfielder.

"We were neck and neck with Barça," the PSG source told L'Equipe. "It was a final between them and us."

But finally, the Dutch midfielder would opt for Barcelona.

"It was the club of his childhood dreams, we cannot fight against that," added the insider.
