Portugal coach Fernando Santos has questioned whether Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo will have the motivation to play into his 40s.

While insisting Ronaldo, physically, could handle it, Santos is unsure whether the Portuguese great would be willing to do so.

He said of the 35 year-old: “Cristiano is ready to play until he is 40 years old, but he doesn't know if that will happen.

"He may feel at some point that he no longer has the same conditions. He is not a player to lower his level, when he feels that, he will go out on his own terms.

"When you feel like you can't be Ronaldo, you won't be Ronaldinho (little Ronaldo).

"'Ronaldinho', in quotation marks, not to be confused with the Brazilian Ronaldinho!"
