The Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) today announced their A-League Team of the Season for 2009/10. PFA chief executive Brendan Schwab released the team at Olympic Park in Melbourne after all players in the league voted for their best 4-3-3 formation along with five substitutes for their performances throughout the season.

This week's Grand Finalists Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC had a total of seven players out of the team of sixteen with Sky Blues boss Vitezslav Lavicka named as coach.

A-League Goalkeeper of the Year Eugene Galekovic from Adelaide United was handed the gloves whilst Victory skipper Kevin Muscat was named as captain.

Gold Coast United duo Jason Culina and Shane Smeltz both made the cut as did departing Newcastle Jets captain Matt Thompson who is off to incoming club Melbourne Heart next season.
