Palmeiras midfielder Matheus Fernandes is a step away from signing for Barcelona.

ESPN Brasil says Barca are in advanced talks to sign Matheus in a €11m deal.

It was originally thought Matheus would arrive to strengthen Barca B, however it's now understood the 21 year-old will be signed to Quique Setien's first team squad.

He will join Barca as primarily cover for Sergi Busquets.

Barca are expected to pay €7m up front for Matheus, with a further €4m due in bonuses.
