Sunderland captain John O'Shea has turned his focus on the relegation battle with the Black Cats after achieving qualification to the Euros with the Republic of Ireland.

The 34-year-old said that he would prefer to go into Euro2016 after securing Premier League status with the Black Cats who scored their second win of the season against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

O'Shea said: "Our campaign started two years ago and to finally get to France is extra sweet. It's great for the country and we look forward to the draw.

"But everyone has to put that on the backburner now and concentrate on club form.

"If you're not in your club team you need to do something about it because we need everybody firing to give the manager plenty of options so he has a tough job picking the squad.

"I want to go the Euros having had a good season with Sunderland staying up. We've managed to do it the last few years and hopefully we can do it again."
