Juan Carlos Unzue has paid tribute to former club Barcelona after taking charge of Numancia.

Unzue has thanked the staff and directors of Barcelona after being appointed the new coach of Numancia.

"They have been great teachers and can feel a bit responsible for everything that has happened to me as a manager, and especially the good things," Unzue told the club's official website.

"I want to thank president Joan Laporta for trusting me from the very first day and Txiki Begiristain, who was the man who suggested me as a signing."
