Nottingham Forest upbeat on Awoniyi return

Nottingham Forest are believed to be hopeful of having striker Taiwo Awoniyi ready for their coming games.

The forward will be vital for the remaining six games of the Premier League season for the relegation-threatened club.

Forest, who have been docked points for PSR breaches, want to remain in the top flight.

The Nigeria forward has not played as often as manager Nuno Espirito Santo would prefer, as he works his way back from a thigh problem.

The Telegraph states that he will have a scan this week to see how his injury is healing.

Nuno has previously said on the matter: “He is doing treatment. It is a serious injury, unfortunately.

“It is a big blow for us because he had just come back (from injury). The importance of Taiwo is huge.

“He gives us another option. I don't know exactly how long he will be out for but I am positive we are going to see him again this season."
