Steve Harper is determined to keep his Newcastle United place for their clash with Manchester United.

The goalkeeper told the Evening Chronicle: "If required and it's me who is selected against Man United it would be great.

"I will be doing everything possible to stay in the team.

"But that is something that anybody would expect.

"We've got to show a response."
