Two Newcastle Jets trialists will play a match for the club immediately after touching down in Australia.

Chinese international Wang Dong and Panama winger Victor Herrera will arrive the same day as the Jets take on Sydney Olympic at Belmore Oval tomorrow and coach Gary van Egmond hopes he can get a proper look at the duo.

"It is a big ask," van Egmond said. "I believe the boy from Panama is travelling first class so he should not be too badly affected.

"We will see how they are off the plane. Then we have Thursday and Friday to have a look at them as well.

"Hopefully they have the quality we need," he added.

"The Chinese boy can play as a holding midfielder but can also get forward.

"Herrera is more of a wide player and likes to get at defenders."

The match against Sydney Olympic is the Jets last before the travel to Korea for their Asian Champions League knock-out clash with Pohang Steelers on June 24.
