Newcastle United are bracing for bids from Chelsea and Manchester United for midfield pair Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote.
The Sunday Mirror says Toon boss Alan Pardew admits that he and his staff are on "red alert" between now and the transfer window closure to try to fend off suitors.
Chelsea and Manchester United have both been tracking the much-coveted pair.
European champions Chelsea are long-term admirers of enforcer Tiote, while Manchester United have watched both players regularly this year with the French Euro 2012 schemer Cabaye attracting particular attention.
