Newcastle United are competing with Manchester United for Feyenoord fullback Daryl Janmaat.
The Daily Mail says the defender has impressed for Holland at this summer's World Cup and has attracted interest from the Magpies having initially been linked with the Red Devils.
Newcastle see Janmaat as a replacement for Mathieu Debuchy, who is expected to be on the move this summer.
Janmaat admitted at the end of last season he did not expect to return to Feyenoord for the new campaign.
