Manchester United are targeting Newcastle United football chief Dan Ashworth.
The Sun says Ashworth is wanted by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who will take charge of football operations once his purchase of a 25 per cent stake in United is confirmed.
Ratcliffe wants Ashworth and a top class scout to form a new directors team at Old Trafford.
Newcastle are aware of the interest and are already drawing up contingency plans.
Bournemouth chief Richard Hughes is viewed as a replacement for Ashworth and is close to Toon manager Eddie Howe.
