Neville urges Man Utd to buy again after Fernandes

Manchester United hero Gary Neville has urged the club to buy again as they close a deal for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes today.

A host of players have been linked including Edinson Cavani and Islam Slimani, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considering bringing a striker in on a loan deal.

“I thought they would do at least two deals in this window, we'll see what happens in the next 48 hours," Neville said before the Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City.

"I think a striker is required now after what has happened with Marcus Rashford."

Neville also suggested United fans cannot expect too much too soon from new signing Fernandes.

He added: "They've had massive issues, not just in terms of recruiting players.

“Also with injuries to key players as well, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have obviously both been missing so it's essential that they had to do a deal in that area of the pitch.

“I think for him to come to England, to settle in, he'll need some time, but they've got a good quality player into the building.

"Obviously it's very difficult to hit the ground running in a January transfer."
