Manchester United signing Mason Mount's dad played a secret role in his arrival at Old Trafford.

Mount, who was with Chelsea since his youth team days, left the Stamford Bridge club this summer.

With the two clubs struggling to agree a fee, The Athletic states that Tony Mount stepped in to talk the two parties into agreeing with each other.

Both Chelsea and United came back to the negotiating table and agreed a compromise fee for Mount.

He has gone through with his medical tests and signed his contract at Old Trafford.

Mount will wear the famous number 7 shirt when he lines up for United next season.
