Monza GM Adriano Galliani admits Carlos Augusto wanted to join Inter Milan.

The wing-back is now moving to the Nerazzurri this week.

Galliani stated: "He'll be with me in the stands [of Monza's Coppa Italia clash with Reggiana this evening].

“We still have a fantastic relationship.

“We had to give the player what he wanted though. He wasn't trying to make money for himself or his agents. But he was one year away from the end of his contract and we had a decision we had to make.

“We had to choose whether to sell him this summer, or keep him and lose him on a free transfer in twelve months.

“I'm sorry to see him go, like all the other fans are, but there wasn't much else we could do in the situation."
