AS Monaco fullback Vanderson has recalled coming close to signing for Brentford.

The Brazilian almost joined the Bees ahead of ASM when leaving Gremio.

"After Gremio's relegation to Serie B, I knew I had to move on. The club and my parents spoke to Brentford," Vanderson told L'Equipe.

"We had accepted, but Monaco came with a more interesting and ambitious project for me, and the offer was also more attractive to Gremio , so we chose Monaco, which is a club where young players can develop."

Vanderson is on a deal to 2027 with ASM.
