AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has revealed that he used his side's 3-1 win over Arsenal from last year as motivation for his players ahead of the game with Tottenham Hotspur.
Monaco defeated Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the Round of 16 of the 2014/15 edition of the Champions League before going through on away goals.
The Ligue 1 side managed to repeat their North London feat by downing Spurs 2-1 in front of more than 85,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night much to the delight of Jardim.
Jardim said: "We tried to think back to when we won against Arsenal at the Emirates, similar surroundings and size (of stadium), so that is what we used going into the game.
"The players loved to play in a huge full stadium.
"I think the size of the pitch affected Tottenham more than it did us."
Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar scored first-half goals before Toby Alderweireld pulled one back for Spurs just before the break as Monaco kickstarted their Group E campaign in winning style.
