Barcelona star Lionel Messi has urged James Rodriguez to leave Real Madrid, it has been revealed.

DiarioGol says Messi sought out James after the El Clasico to offer the Colombian his support.

James was left on the bench by Real coach Zinedine Zidane, who even preferred Castilla striker Mariano Diaz ahead of the midfielder as a second-half substitute.

Messi advised James to seek a move away from Real and find a club where he will play regularly and prove his talent.

The Argentine is a big fan of James and feels he's selling himself short staying with Real.
