McDonald helps Middlesbrough to Carling Cup win

Scott McDonald scored his second goal for Middlesbrough in just a matter of days to help the club to a first round Carling Cup win.

The Australian striker netted in the 8th minute with a low, sliding shot to open the scoring in the 2-1 win over Chesterfield at b2net Stadium.

Julio Arca added a second just after the half-hour mark for Boro before Dwayne Mattis grabbed one for the League Two outfit in the 68th minute.

McDonald's goal followed up his opener in the 3-1 opening day league loss to Ipswich Town at Riverside Stadium.
