Mateusz Bogusz admits rejecting Leeds contract to sign for LAFC

Mateusz Bogusz admits turning down a new Leeds contract to sign for LAFC.

The 21-year-old Polish international left the Whites last month when he penned a four-year deal with the California-based side, which saw his own four-year stint with Leeds come to an end.

"There was interest [from LAFC] already in January, but then Ibiza didn't let me go," Bogusz explained to Przegląd Sportowy. "They did not want to agree to shorten the loan with Leeds.

"But the matter was not over. It was obvious that in Los Angeles, they had a clear plan for me. I've learned a few things about this club, I've seen the training centre they have and I'm happy to be here."

He also stated: "I also had the option of a longer contract with Leeds.

"There I signed a three-year contract with an option to extend it and the club wanted to take advantage of it, so I could return to Leeds next season.

"But they [LA FC] gave me a nice plan. I will fight to play here. The team is attacking, creating chances, so I hope I can show myself.

"For me, this [move to LAFC] is very big progress. Especially because eight months ago, I returned to training after torn ligaments and injured my kneecap… after all, I came here from a team that was defending against relegation."
