Manchester United youngster Memphis Depay has credited Ryan Giggs for helping him through a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

Depay has not been able to match the hype that surrounded him upon his arrival at United from PSV Eindhoven but the winger did manage to get back on track by scoring in the Red Devils' 2-1 victory over Watford on the weekend.

It is now expected that Depay will push on from his fine performance and now the Dutchman has gone on to praise United assistant Giggs for giving him guidance during a tough last few months.

Speaking to MUTV, Depay said: "I think every young player goes through things but I keep training and enjoy the training sessions. The stuff [I have been told] has stuck with me and Ryan Giggs has given me good advice and I've been working on some things with him.

"You need that backing and you need to back yourself and train well, and of course all the help is great to get through difficult times. I'm happy to get the help of everyone and happy to play on Saturday to show that I can be important."
