Veteran goalkeeper David De Gea is said to have signed a new contract with Manchester United this month.
However, the club then went back on the agreement and did not sign the deal themselves.
Per The Athletic, De Gea was offered a deal on reduced terms from his previous wage.
He agreed, but then saw the club pull the deal and offer him a drastically lower salary, compared to the £375,000-a-week he earns.
Media reports have speculated that manager Erik ten Hag may have been behind the decision.
He is not convinced that De Gea is the right keeper to play his brand of football.
