Man Utd U18 coach Lawrence delighted with FAYC win

Manchester United Under-18s boss Adam Lawrence was delighted with his team on Tuesday.

The young Red Devils picked up a narrow win over Derby County in the FA Youth Cup.

Having beaten Derby's Under-18s, Lawrence lavished praise on his group of talents.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "The special thing about this club is that players are allowed to dream and they can see it is achievable because they can see players in the last couple of years who have taken that path. You can see Kobbie Mainoo, Dan Gore, Alejandro Garnacho who all played in this type of game (an FA Youth Cup tie) and they should be aspiring to do the same as them over the next year or two.

"It is a pleasure to work with the boys. They have a thirst and desire to get better and improve. They have a good way of thinking about their individual plans and the areas they want to develop in. We want to help the players maximize the environment they are in.

"If you asked us at the start of the season would you prefer to win X games in a row or lose then we would want to win but this club has a style of play and a philosophy that we want to develop players in. We feel if we are more obsessed around the individuals than the group then that in turn helps the team develop to a better level and get results and win games."
