Man Utd Treble winner Johnsen: Solskjaer building young team for future

Manchester United Treble winner Ronny Johnsen is adamant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man in charge.

Johnsen is convinced United are improving under his fellow Norwegian.

"It definitely was my biggest time as a footballer. We won a lot of trophies, I was part of a fantastic team [with] a fantastic manager," he said, before drawing parallels with Solskjaer's current United side.

"So I'm rooting for Ole Gunnar to come to that stage again," he added.

"You can see the similarities now. Like when I came, there were a lot of local kids coming through to play for United and now we see it again with Ole Gunnar making sure the kids are coming through. I'm crossing my fingers for the future.

"I think he was nominated for manager of the month in December. Looking back on the results, I think he's building a team and putting a lot on young kids coming through the system. It takes a bit of time but I think it's only five [actually six] points off fourth place. That's an important place to get at. They've done well against the top teams.

"I really look positively on the future now. They're progressing in every game I see."
