Tottenham fullback Kyle Walker has popped up on the radar of Manchester United. United see Walker as an alternative to Crystal Palace fullback Nathaniel Clyne.
The Mirror says United are believed to have made discreet enquiries about Walker's situation at White Hart Lane, with Van Gaal identifying him as a player able to operate effectively in a flat back four or as a wing-back.
Walker has four years to run on his £50,000-a-week deal.
