Man Utd target Maddison leaning towards signing new Leicester deal

James Maddison is leaning towards signing a new deal with Leicester City.

Maddison is considering signing a new contract with Leicester despite strong interest from Manchester United, says the Manchester Evening News.

Sources close to Maddison insist a new deal with Leicester is not close and he could wait until the end of the season before deciding on his future.

Maddison is contracted to Leicester, currently the Premier League's second-placed side, until 2023 but his stock has soared this season and Maddison attained his first England cap in the 7-0 thrashing of Montenegro at Wembley last week.

Maddison has already contributed four goals and as many assists for Leicester, who appear well poised to break into the Premier League top six. Brendan Rodgers' side are third and already 10 points clear of United in seventh.
