Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Victor Lindelof that he needed to "express" himself on the pitch after he became Manchester United manger interim boss.
The Swede has enjoyed a remarkable run of form since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December.
Lindelof told Sky Sports: "He's been amazing since he arrived and he came here with a big smile on his face and I think that was important for all of the players.
"He spoke to me and told me to do the things that I'm good at, to show my abilities and to express myself on the pitch. That was very nice to hear."
