Tahith Chong insists he did not abandon Feyenoord for Manchester United.

The teenage midfielder is expected to be confirmed as a United player on July 1 when his Feyenoord contract expires.

Chong says he was happy to stay in Rotterdam, but Feyenoord showed a lack of willingness to keep him around.

"There was no plan that was made for me," he told ELF Voetbal.

"When I announced that I wanted to leave, they did come up with a plan. In the end, it was too late."
