Manchester United are ready to go to £90m to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

The Daily Star says United will make Maguire their third highest paid player as they try to grab him from Leicester for £90m.

A salary of £250,000 a week for the England man would mean only Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez will pocket more than him at Old Trafford should he sign.

That sum is almost three times the amount Maguire is on at the King Power Stadium – and underlines United's determination to clinch the deal.

United have had a £70m bid rejected already by the Foxes, who in an attempt to kill the interest in their asset slapped a £100m price tag on him.

But while that hands-off message has seen Manchester City drop out of the race, their neighbours remain very much in the hunt.
