Trialist striker Ogo Obi made the breakthrough before half time by slotting home following a Demetri Mitchell run as, even without the injured Marcus Rashford, the Reds took control.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Mitchell and Jordan Thompson also were on the United scoresheet.
