Manchester United have opened talks with agents for PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo.

The 23-year-old has underlined his status as one of the most exciting players in Europe with his World Cup performances for Holland.

And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the club are in discussions with the player's agents over a potential move.

While he confirms they are yet to contact PSV, the news will increase speculation that the Red Devils are edging closer to the Dutchman.

But it will not be cheap to land him.

In an interview with the United Stand, Romano added: "Now I think they [PSV] want €50 million [£43m] guaranteed for Cody Gakpo."
